Our brands include Vision TV, ONE TV, Joy TV, Faith TV, Classical FM, AM740, blogTO, Zoomer Magazine, On The Bay Magazine and The Tonic Magazine.We are seeking a Corporate Controller who will report to the Chief Financial Officer.  The ideal candidate is a finance business partner who has excellent leadership, problem-solving, and strong interpersonal skills.

Major responsibilities:

Financial Reporting

  • Responsible for month-end closing activities for over 10 business units.
  • Preparation of internal financial/management reports and analysis for business units.
  • Review quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and ensure compliance with IFRS
  • Draft quarterly and annual MD&A as part of the regulatory reporting package.

Audit, Tax & Internal Controls

  • Responsible for overseeing the annual audit process
  • Supervise all tax reporting and filing requirements, including timing filing of all statutory remittances (e.g. HST, EHT, WSIB, NRT, Corporate income tax).
  • Review and approve payroll
  • Prepare regulatory filing including CRTC, ATP etc
  • Develop, improve and implement internal control procedures and policies

Business Support

  • Variance analysis of actual results and provide timely feedback to business leaders.
  • Provide decision support to the business unit as required
  • Prepare monthly cash flow forecast and oversee cash management for the entire organization
  • Support the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis in preparation of budget/forecast for over 10 business units.

Team Management

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of 8 including accounts receivable, payable, accountants, analysts and payroll.
  • Delegate responsibility while maintaining oversight, accountability and regular feedback.


  • Assist CFO with establishing and implementing departmental objectives.
  • adhoc projects as assigned.


  • CPA designation
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years in a similar role.
  • Prior experience with multi-divisional companies and inter-company accounting practices.
  • Strong Knowledge of IFRS and internal controls.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of solutions; advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Experience with the media/entertainment industry and working knowledge of Great Plains ERP are an asset
